Pauiatua, Thursday, j Wednesday, November 28th has been . fixed upon as the day of the presentation of a testimonial to Mr A. W, Hogg, from the residents of Paliiatua and surrounding districts. It is felt that Mr Hogg's work in Parliament merits recognition from the people, and the matter is being taken up warmly, The town is nearly deserted to-day, several coach loads of people having left yesterday and this morning for Palmerston Show. A number have also gone to Masterton Show. Everything augurs well for the Knight of Labor Sports on Boxing Day, The Programme will he an attractive one, and a good number of competitors is anticipated. The Committee luivc; commenced work most energetically. Mr Broome has been appointed manager of the Ballanco Dairy lactory. The milk supply at the Makakahi aud MangatainoliaFuctorics has now reached 1,000 gallons aud | is daily increasing rapidly, The Woodvillc creamery opens today, and the Hawcra creamery, next week and Kaitawa the week after, The Paliiatua Central Factory will commence operations next week. The Commiltco of the Knights of Labor Sports have decided to add to .the programme for the Boxing Day Sports, ahandicapof three distances foramatcur runners only, the first prize to be a sil-1 vcrctip. Arrangements for tho sports | arc being taken in hand verj energetically, and previous sports, should be eclipsed. At the invitation of the local Assembly of the Knights of Labor, Mr O'liogau, M.H.8., lectures at Paliiatua shortly. The Fire Brijjado Band's annual ball 1 takes place to-night.
