RIFLE SHOOTING.

Wellington, Wednesday, Acircularrecently issued by Major Somcrville, relativo to the affiliation of Rifle Clubs with the Now Zealand Rifle Association, and a competition for the bronze medal of the Association, has been unanimously approved by the members of the Council, and warmly supported by many of the Rillc Corps aud Rifle Clubs, applications being received daily for affiliation. The circular is now being forwarded to allcorps giving full details forcompetitionforthobronzeniedals, Tho ranges are 200, and 500 yards, five shots at each range j four competitions, the three highest to count. Rifles are to be Martini or Snider. ' It is understood that the usual Government grant tothe Association, will be made this year, and the programme is being drafted. With affiliation of Rifle Clubs, the membership of the Association will bo largely increased, and Major Sommorvillo anticipates tho next gathering will be ono of the largest ever held. In anticipation of the meeting Messrs Kynock and Co. give ahandsome trophy and 3,000 rounds of ammunition.
