THE WORK OF THE SESSION.
Tho session has lasted exactly four months, sixteen days longer than last year. In order to show how we Compare with past years, wo give a tablo of tho House's work for twelve years past, showing the numbor of measures framed, passed and dropped in each. The years 1884 and 1887 marked with a star, had each two sessions.
Tho present session beats tho record, as will be seen at a glance. It records a smaller total of measures framed than the year 1887 by 27 measures.but a larger total of passes i by 36, and a correspondingly smaller I total of failures, But 1887 was a year of two sessions : the cost to the country of the larger quantity of work is theroforo less, but the presnro on nil concerned very much greater. Having broken the century in 1894, we can realise by studying tho table that tho continual upward tendency has been substantially maintained. Tho other work of the session is shown by the following figures :
Committee Petitions, lleports, Hours. Average. 1803 ~ 5'.12 707 605 8h 63m 1894 .. 703 837 097 Bh3om Hours after , Entries in midnight. Questions Journals.
