Beetham, President of tho: Club,' '- is presenting anothor Challenge Cup ■■ for competition. I erred in saying , the Club intended opening the season last Saturday, next Saturday is I the date fixed. >• "' v . The concert on Wednesday night was a decided success. There was a good attendance,- a pleasant feature being..the ldi-go ■ nuikbei* ,■ Sf-^ladies present. Tho orchestra played ho opening pieces in the way we always now expect, and nothing more need bo said. Songs were contributed by the Misses lnnes and Hill and Mr A. •W. Vennell. The rest of the concert was comic, much to the .delight of the small fry, and it was.vory good comic too, songs being contributed by Messrs Gwilliam and Dodchin, who are now' to us, and by the two old favourites, Messrs T-iiran and* * H, T. Kees. There wWkl other item, not cmiiic, and one not to be forgotten—a -violin solo by Keibana, wliiob. was certainly tho gem of the evening, The concert; concluded with a farce, " Athletic. iTt\d," by Messrs G. Fisher and,H. T.~ Sees, and greatly amused the children.

Mr I Young, member of the Education Board, who is ;in the Wairarapa on business, paid a visit to the school on Thursday, and expressed himself much pleased with the tone and work of tho school. As

Mr Young was. formerly master of the Terrace Sohool when our tencber ~ "' was. pupil thorn, additional interest was lent to the visit. One pupil from the school hero is in for .the the scholarship examination.
