Monthly Meeting. Tho usual monthly meeting of the Mastcrton Town Lands Tiiiatees was held last evening. Present, Messra W. Lowes (Chairman); A. W. Renall, C. E. Daniell, E. '',' .•!■; Tho Treasurer reported a credit , balance at date of; £6B 14s 7d. ' Grants promised amounted to £95, *M 3 without the LSO to be, paid to the jH Park Trust this year. ; ' <■■■■:'.■;■■:■. VOLUNTEER FIHB BRIGADE, : ' :^^^H The Secretary of the Fire Brigrde wrote, asking that grant of Lls passed, be paid, as Brigade was in urgentneed of funds. 1

'■ SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENTS, \:M The Clerk pointed out with referenco to Education Board scholar-^^H ' ships, that it was the Board's cju&^^^H to draw their cheques in^^^^^^H the scholar, and not thcj^^^^^^H - The Chairman said he d^^^^^^H i why they should mako-»n^^^H^^| The amounts due to L ' Waite and Daniell for ■ were passed for payment,. LIHRAIIY LOAN, ' ',. '^^M 8 With reference to the Library e grant, the Clerk explained that Lsoj^^^| 8 per nnnum was given by the Trust' t as interest and sinking fund on tho 1 Library loan. The amount of the I loan was now Ll5O, towards which V •L 56 had now accumulated. Tho W II half-yearly account for L 25 to tho V Library was then passed for pay- M t ment. e DANK ACCOUNT, t It was resolved to alter the titlo r of the Bank account from "MasterD ton Towu Lands Trust account" to 11 "Masterton Trust Lands Trust ac--4 count," in' accordance with the last 1 Act. I A LEGAL POINT, II The Chairman said with rof erenco 0 to Mr C, Hughes' application to be e allowed to assign or sub-leaso a pro--£>t,m * perty in Queen Street to Wong Youy"" < X 'M he had obtained tho opinion of tho =.«fj " Trust solicitor, who informed them ig e that if Mr Hughes assigned the lease $ and the Trustees consented,a proviso ' ' would have to bo inserted, if tho g Trust wished to hold Mr Hughes re. F sponsiblo for the fulfilment of tho '■• terms on which the lease was original ally granted. Ho had told Mr Hughes t that the Trust would not consent to an assignment. Mr Lett moved that Mr Hughes bo permitted to sub-let to Wong > You, but that he still be held us tho Trust's responsible tenant, Mr Peist seconded and tho motion was carried, e Tho Trustees then went into Com--1 mitteo to deal with the arrears of o rent,
