VVVIL.I It A veiy enjoyable complimentary social was given to Dr. Bntement in tho Wesleyan Schoolroom on Tues- ', day evening by tho members of the Masterton Ambulance Society, about soventy-five ladies and gentlemen being present. During the evening the following programme was gone through, refreshments being handed round at intervals: Miss Feist, piano _| "Bridal March"; Mrs Arnolj - }, "To the Woods"; Mr H. Lee,.song, "Harbour Lights" ; Miss Watson, song, "The Angel at __ the Window"; Mi' W. H. Jackson, " V reading « The Raven "; Mr C. Gin-dei-s,song, "Off to Philadelphia"; Mr J. Candy, violin solo; Mr Lilly, song," Marching; Mr Davys, recitation, "Ticket o'Leave," Tho Chairman (Mr W. H. Jackson) took occasion during the evening to thank Drßutomeht on behalf of the Society, for the sterling services rendered .by his course of lectures, during past winter. MrE. E. Chamberlain endorsed tho remarks and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Dr Butement, who in making his acknowledgments, expressed tho wish, that the Society would not disband, and said he was quito satisfied that his time had not been wasted, if the members of the class had reaped the least benefit from his instructions, Dr. Butement's remarks wero received with _ jjapplauso, We must not forget to that the Misses Feist, Wat-, son and Williams, and Mr A, von ✓f\ Keisenbcrg played the accompani-
