LATEST PAHIATUA NEWS.
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) _ Paiiiatua, Wednesday. A meeting of the committee of the Pahiatua Jockey Club was held last night, A letter was received 'V from the Secretary of the Welling- ' ton Jockey Clnb, giving n, list of the clubs which it was proposed should '• be abolished and which include the Lower Valley and Pahiatua Clubs, . and stating that a meeting would be held on October 30th, to meet representatives of the Club, and discuss the question. It was pointed out that Pahiatua was 45 miles distance from the nearest course in the Province and after discussion _ three members wero appointed to 9> m intorview the Metropolitan Club to show .reason why tho Pahiatua Jockey Clnb should not be wiped out. . With reference to a fine of £5 • imposed on Mr Peters, owner of Master Key for non-scratching, it was decided to apply to the Jlatropolitan Club for the amount paid in /•"\ under the protest by Mr \ A cricket club has been formed at >*Sfakuri, which it is anticipated will •-~ jßlonnumbei 1 one hundred members.
