MASTERTON BOROUGH ELECTION.
Result of the Poll, The election of three councillors to tho Masterton Borough Council took place yesterday, a fair amount of interest being taken in the proceedings, Tho results were as follows : West. Ward, T '%g ■,■ 117 : W. Porry ... .... 66 : Informal.: One vote ■ ;' East Waiid. ' ; C. Hughes „. ~, 71'.' T.Dixon ... . ,„ 63 Outer Ward. J. Yates .„ ... 62'. : C. E.Danioll... . .., 52 Messrs Wagg ami Hughes, briefly returned thanks to the ratepayers. Mr Perry, in thanking those wlio had voted for him, said ho hoped the new-wmiciiiors vronlcl look wsll #fcr the interests of the Borough and not follow in the wake of Palnierston North, where the people had gone in for big loans, big rates, and big fires. Mr T. Dixon also thanked his supporters, and said that he was not altogether sorry that he had been defeated, as Council work took up a good deal of valuable time.
