GREYTOWN NOTES.

Thursday. What with tho Borough election and. the Exhibition, the town looks quite lively to-day. The Exhibition will bo opened by Mr W. C. Buchanan this aftoruoou. Tho hall is packed with exhibits of all' descriptions. I will give a detailed account in next issue.

_ The Institute or Library at Maritinboroiigh. is now completed and lielleotsgi-eatcreditontho contractor, Mr H. Humphries. I might mention that the Maoris have contributed a largo number, of exhibits to the Exhibition, which go a long way towards making the affair attractive. '

An -itinerant photographer has ariJßil hero and has taken up his quSßcrs in that section adjoining Mr C. " More the merrier." • Friday. The Borough' election resulted in the return of Mr D, P. Loasby, at the head of the poll, 137; MrC. Ttilly,llß;F,H, Wood, 117; Bright, 75. A great deal of interest was evinced in the election. ". ' Mr S. Haigh was assaulted by! a young Maori man, who was intoxicated, last evening, Your correspondent also narrowly escaped a black eye from the same native.
