TAUERU NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

We suffered Lore on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, in common with the neighbourhood, a beautiful mixture of hail, rain, snow, and wind, and which day was the coldest is hard to say. Wo are all hoping that this is "Father Winter's adieu, and that lie will give the "gay young Spriug" a chance now. The Rifle Club held their Annual Meeting on Monday evening, when there was a fair attendance of members. The report arid balance sbeot wero presented, and showod the Club to bo in a good position financially. The eleotion of officers resulted as follows; President; Mr H, H. . Beetham; vlce-Presidents; Messrs W. C. Buchanan, M.H.R.,G. A, Pairbrother, C. A, Pownall, and A. P. Whatman; Captain; MrT. Brown (all re-elected) j Secretary and Treasurer; Mr H. T, Rees; Committee; The Captain, Secretary, and Messrs Or Gai-ratt, W. Smith, and A. W. Vennell.

A vote of thanks was passed to ' the retiring Secretary, Mr Chatwin, and regret was expressed tliatowing to pressure of work he could not again take the office. Some now members were elected, and arrangements made for now targets, and for opening tho season, The meeting closed with the usual vote ot thanks to the chairman, Mr T. Brown.

The usual Bachelor's Ball seems to be off this year, Have all tho bachelors left (?) I wonder, or is it oh account of the mmoureddesertion to the Benedicts of one of their leading spirits,
