"Dodging difficulties" is now tun Alpha and Omega of Ministerial' policy, One difficulty is that the Colonial' Revenue is falling off, and the Customs duties are coming in badly. But" what the oye does not perceive, the heart does not grieve," and Ministers hit upon the clever expedient of not publishing the usual monthly return of the Customs receipts. This ought to have dodged the difficulty, but unfortunately it only made Opposition members more suspicious, and there was a scene in the House. Mr Ward tried to circumnavigate the difficulty, but had at last to promise to supply the information desired.
