A DISPUTE BETWEEN CHINAMEN.

A civil action was commenced in the Supreme Court, Wellington, on Monday, before his Honor, Ihe Chief Justice and a jury ot twclye, in which Huug Foo claims £SOO from Wong You. Plaintiff, for whom Mr Izard appears, alleges that on the 4th January, 18!)4, defuudant (who had business transactions with him) railed at plaintiff's shop at Groytown and asked to be paid the balance of account which stood between tlieni, Plaintiff snid ho must go to Wellington to get some money, and on the (i(h |ef( for Wellington with that intention. "Plaintiff alleges that the same evening the defendant enteral his premises, put out a clerk, who had been. I left to look after the business, and took possession. Plaintilt therefore claimed JtdOOas dtuiinges through stoppage of btisiucss, and £350 value of the goods left in the place, with £5 a week from date of entry by defendant to date of judgment. Mr Hislop appeared for the defence and with him Mr I'owmill. The defence is that plaintiff was carrying on the Greytown business as agent for the defendant, who, it is contended, took possession under an agreement, which it is alleged existed between the two. Defendant also puts in a couulcr claim for interest upon a sum of £2OO which he alleges to be due, The ease is likely to last several days, a number of Chinese witnesses having to be interpreted.
