CARTERTON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent), I Tuesday, Tho Carter on Ambulanco Class met last night, when Dr, Johnson presented prizes for passing in the examination in "First Aid to tlielnjured." The highest three wore Miss Mary Broadbent, Miss Edio Richards, and Mr T, W. Telford, and these were presented with books and certificates. Certificates wore also granted to Mr Wnltor 11, Reynolds, Miss A. Brown, Mr H, J Telford, Miss Grace Brown, Mr C. McFarlane aud Mr A. J. Reynolds, A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Dr, Johnsonfor his series of lectures, and in response ho expressed a hope to continue the class next year in the second course. The class will hold a conversazione next Monday to finish up the session, At a meeting of tho Borough Council yesterday, the Treasurer reported the overdraft at £451259 d,
The Tavatalii Racing Club lias wonderfully increased in strength lately and now numbers 175 member,S. They wound up their present financial year with a balauco at the Bank of New Zealand of #155, and liabilities nib Mr 11,I 1 , Petirce has given a donation of £5 to the Club in lieu of taking up a grand stand debenture.
