Meeting oj Stewards

A meeting of Stewards of the above Club was held in the Empire Hotel, Fcatlierston, on Saturday afternoon. Present—Messrs W. E, Bidwill (in the chair), Bcynolds, W. O. Williams, Nix, Bock, Donald, Button and Wilkinson. Tho Treasurer's statement showed a credit balance of £llßs sil.

Accounts amounting to £l9 were passed for payment. The following correspondence was received and dealt with:

From Mr J. Blomquist re Matipo plants.—Mr Wilkinson was authorised to get the plants, and plant them,

From the Tuicri Turf Club, asking tho support of a resolution they had passed, urging that tho minimum stakes for a day should be £2OO, instead of £3OO as at present.—The letter was laid on the table, Mr J, Hodder waited on the meeting, and asked their support in a case that he and Mr Crawford were about to bring against Mr Hayes, of Greytown, for not putting his horses into the yards at the Hunt Club Steeplechase Meeting, He and Mr Crawford had purchased the privileges, and they had brought this action as a test case.

It was resolved that the Secretary should get an opinion'from thcClubs solicitor, before they pledge themselves to anything. It was rcsolvod that Mr Izard and the Secretary draw up a report, and submit it to the Chairman, for presentation at tho annual mcethig. It was proposed by Mr A. Bonald, and seconded by Mr Nix, that the annual meeting should bo held nt Feathcrston, and an amendment was proposed by Mr W. O. Williams, and seconded by Mr Bock, that the meeting be held in Greytown in August.

The amondmont was carried by five votes to thrco.

Mr Williams asked the feeling of tho meeting on tho desirability of starting a Sires' Produce Stakes, and it was resolved that this matter bo dealt with at the annual meeting, Tho meeting then adjourned,
