JheCmpeting Australian . ■ Sydney, Juno 15, A return prepared by the Railway Commissioners shows tkt the Victorian Railway Commissioners have made reductions in rates rai'ijn<» from 20 to as much as 60 por cent., in order to capture the oarriago of the New South Wales border wool clip, It is estimated that 240,000 bales of wool grown in this colony are earned to tho sea-board annually, MEMoira, June 15. The Railway Commissioners have received a letter from the Now South Wales Commissioners .in which the latter state that it is their desire to .secure a readjustment of tho .rates on strictly commercial principles, without political interference. Tho Victorian Conunis<sionors liavo' replied exprcssin willingness to abolish preferentiag rates and charge by mileage, if Ncwl South Wales will do the same. It is unlikely that the latter colony will agree tote, as it would be all in favour-W Victoria, owing to the the Rivctina district to Melbourne,
