i A meeting combining business and pleasure was held in St. Mark's Schoolroom last night, It was the ordinary monthly social, aud the' vestry had' taken advantage of the occasion and notified church mem-' hers that an appeal would be made for donations towards paying up the arrears of stipend, which amounted on 31st March to £27. The rooms ■ woro well filled with visitors, no charge being made for admission, and refreshments, given -in, tho latter, being supplied by the ladies, Vocal and instrumental items were provided and a variety of parlour games, the time passing, very pleasantly. Mr R, Ifnirkothcr, churchwarden, gave a brief address and explained tho financiul position, The result of 'the .meeting was £6 4s 6d collected and ten names given in for £1 each, This, with what is estimated will be .received at the special offertories next Sunday, will clear'off the arrears.'
