OBITUARY.
Mr Vincent Pyke, MM, [1827-1894.] (By Telegraph.—Press Association) Duxbdix, Monday, Mr Vincent Pyke, M.H.R., for Tuapeka, died at 9 o'clock this morning, aged G7. _ [Mr Pyke was born'in Somersetshire m 1827, and came to Australia in 1851, Ho took a leading part iu public affairs aud was closely connected with the introduction of vojing by ballot, jn'lßo2 l|cyisitc(}Qtagof()r his health. He 'acCPpfci) an offer fponi (lie Provincial Go. vcrnmcnt, and became head of the mining department, On the abolition of tho provinces, ho was appointed a Goldlicld Warden, and iu 1873, sat for the West Coast, continuing to represent tho mining interest until defeated at the General Election of 1890. The deceased gentleman has always taken a lively in* tcrest in Masonic'matters and filled the position of Past Grand Master of the District Grand Lodge of Otago, Scotch Constitution.] 1
