I understand that the Government arc making arrangements with a local sawmiller to cut up the timber iu the Totarn llcscrvc, Mangahao. The miller expects to have cutting at the rate of 3000 feet per diem for live years, aud also tho right of cartage, to any place the Government may want it. Besides giving cniploynicut to a great number of hands, this arrangement should prove the means of increasing the revenue to a considerable extent. The country will bo cleared, and burnt all round- This block, if left staudiug, ran a great risk of being destroyed by lire.
