Friday. The Mangatainoko river at the end of the Maugahao road, during the recent flood has encroached considerably on the_ eastern bank, the roadway for vehicles being completely washed away. In ordor that vehicles can get down to the river crossing, they arc compelled to go down by the Pnlmerston North road. The local school dispute has at last been finally decided by the Education Board, at last Wednesday's meeting, when tho report of tho Committee, which enquired into matters at Pahiatua, recommended that Mr loe, and Miss Bccsc, assistant, should receive three months notice. This was adopted, Mr Butland, who succeededl Mr Everton at the Makakalii school, is giving every satisfaction to scholars aid parents alike.
