The storm wa6 worse than ever in Mastorton last evening. We do not .mean the wind and rain, that was nothing, but the storm kicked up by that demon at the gas works. As soon as evening lamps were lit an odour as of the bottomless pit pervaded every household and people throw open their doors and windows and hurled imprecations at the municipal authorities and at their gas nuisance. It has, wo believe, been discovered for some lime past that there is something wrong with the works and complaiuers get a retort courteous, but very much out ordor, The business people of this town are to blame not to have called a meeting long ago on tho subject and appointed a Committe of investigation, The Borough Gas Committee appears to bo quite unable to meet the difficulty and unless some pressure is put upon tho Council by business residents the present intolerable muisance may become chronic,
