1 * Election of two Members. , The election of two members of tlio Masterton Town Lauds Trust 1 took place yesterday, and in spite of tho bad weather ut fair amount of n . -— •JnteifsU-as taken in tho proceedings. ) in the interest f of Messrs Eenall and Vilo the remaining candidates leaving the matter almost entirely in the hands of tho electors. The poll was declared about seven o'clock, nnd on the . result being made known, Mr A, Vile returned thanks on behalf of Mr A. [ W.Benallnnd himself, stating he was glad to see Mr Eenall at the j top of the poll, because it was a ' position his past services gave him - every title to. He (Mr Vilo) would , endeavour to carry out his pledges to the best of his ability. The speaker was received with cheers, nnd some of his more ardent supporters carried him shoulder high up the street, ! The numbers polled were : A.W,Renall „, 412 A. H, Vilo ,■„ 355 I W. G. Beard ... 117 , S.E. Gapper .... 89 W.Praguell * ,„ 83 The total number of persons voting was 555, of which number 165 were women, The roll contains I*ll2 names, rather less than half polling.
