Ordinary Meeting. >' _ The first meeting of the Board r r since the alteration in the boundary ' of the District was held on Saturday _ the 2Gth iust. Present:—Messrs ; Heckler, Gleeson,Forsberg,Taitand , Bannister. J Mr Porsborg having been unani- . mously elected chairman, the standt ing orders were adopted and the i minutes of the previous meeting read ' and confirmed, ! Correspondence was read from the j Commissioner of Crown Lands statt ing that a portion of section 15 Block 111.. Kopuaranga would be excluded from sale and when surveyed gazet- ' ted as reserve for Roadman's wharo. From the same giving values of f sections 18,19, 20, and 21, Pioneer' 1 S.S.audcnclosingcertiiicateauthoris- ■ ing Board to use certain thirds as I ordinary rovenue. From the Colonial Secretary, pro- ■ visioiinlly approving of loans of - £2OOO, for C. Mangamahoo road; | £IOOO for Ihuraua Valley road, and 1 £IOOO for Dagg'a road. . Prom Messrs Plait and Abbott, i requesting' that their names bo placed separately on the ratepayers ; roll. Some discussion took place ; with regard to this request., several i of the members objecting to Messrs | Piatt and Abbott being given two 1 votes in anticipation of the loan for I Central Mangamahoo Road. The . Clerk was instructed ]o make some further enquiries before tho request ; be granted. ; The Glevk was also instructed to advertise the proposal for Central Mangainahoe Road loan, Mr Bannister objecting to part of Messrs .Day and Welch's property being excluded from the rating area, on the ground that it would reduce tho number of votes to which they were entitled. It was, however, decided to exclude part of the property mentioned. Mr P. O'Connor wrote, requesting that he might be given an opportunity to consult with the Board should it decide; to lower the road over the limestone hill. Mr D. M. Brooks also interviewed the Board with regard to the samo matter, The Chairman and Mr Heckler were appointed to consult with the Board's solicitor respecting the disposal of the limestone on this road before making arrangements with any party to lower the grade. The Chairman, Mr Heckler, and the Clerk wero appointed to meet the delegates from tho Eketalmna Road Board at the County Offices on Wednesday, the 13th prox., re adjustment of accounts necessitated by the alterations in the District boundaries. It was decided to striko .a rate of |d in the £ on the rateable property within the district for the year commencing April Ist, 1894. The Clei'k was instructed to prepare specifications for a small piece of formation and metalling on Mackay's Road, and to request tho County Engineer to prepare plans and specifications for Smith Road, Hastwell, and Ihuraura Valley Road,the latter to be m sections of about 1 mile each. Mr Petersen's offer to get 15 chains of bush on Smith Road, felled at 3s per chain, was accepted, In consequence of the large numbers of cattle constantly straying on the road the clerk was directed to ' notify the rangers to attend more ( strictly to their duties otherwise I their services will be dispensed i with. A 1 Twenty-three tenders were ro- ■' ceived for two small contraction i Bowen's road. The following were I accopted:— Messrs O'Keefe and i Jenkins' tender for No. lat £25 lis, i and for No. 2 Messrs Hans Larsen 1 & Co, at £ll6s 8d per chain. "'?!'
