GREYTOWN CHRYSANTHEMUM BALL.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Last night a very successful ball 1 was held in the Greytown Palace Hall in aid of the Volunteer Fire Brigade. The weather was anything but favourable but fully fifty couple, besides a number in the gallery were present. The hall was tastefully decorated with ferns greenery and chrysantheumums, a wreath of the latter being round a portrait of Queen Victoria, in honour of the day. The stage was nicely arranged withferns, seats beingprovitled for the ladies, and a refreshment tablo kept before the supper room opened, _ The music was part icularly admired and commentod upon. This was supplied Miss M. Fuller (piano) Mr 11, Varnham (clarionette and bass viol) and J. Macguire Junr. (cornet), Extras wero played by Misses Ella Gallagher, H. Segriff and Mr H. D. Tully, Messrs Magtiire, Loasby, Bright and Gant officiated as M.C's in a _ very creditable manner, not a single hitch occurring through out the dance, The supper was of a most bounteous nature, and was under the efficient charge of Mesdaines Dallas andH. Hawke, asj aisled by Messrs F. Amos andH. Duff. The whole proceedings were of a most enjoyable nature, dancing bciugkeptup till about three o'clock this morning.
