Onehunga Borough Council.
Mrs Mayor Yates has Her Own Way The Police Called to Assist (By Telegraph,—Press Association) Auckland, Tuesday. The adjourned meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council was held last evening. The postponement caused a larger attendance even than on Monday night. Before the meeting opened a dense crowd assembled in front of the building and on the staircase leading to the Council room. When the Lady Mayor arrived she ordered the police to clear tho crowd out, saying that it would bo impossible to transact any business with such a crowd present. The police accordingly cleared tho staircase of over one hundred spectators, mostly young fellows" hustled them into tho street, and locked tho front door, on them. Tho Council then proceeded to business, which related chiefly to tho sanitary question. Several altercations botween the Mayor and Councillors took place, in which Mrs Yates invariably had her own way.
