AHMED LARCENY. Henry Tompkinson pleaded guilty to the larceny of a silver watch and chain, valued nt £6 10s, the property of John Henderson, John Henderson, Inborn 1 of Miiblerton, proved that the watch and , chain now in the possession of the | police wero his property, He had wound his watch up on going to bed between 12 and 1 a.m. on Sunday last, and when he awoke about seven o'clock it was gone. At tlio time witness wan going to bed he saw the accused pass through the sitting-room, where he slept. The watch was then in his vest pocket on the table, ami tlio clmin could bo : seen. Did not see anyone else pass in or ont 'of the sitting-room from that time till he went to bed. Piripi Jlmka (interpreted by Mr J Pratt) said accused offered to sell him a watch and chair at the Empire ' Hotel, on Friday evening, for tlio sunt of two pounds. The watch produced was the one offered to wit- ' ncss. I Sergeant McArdle proved the ar- ( rest of accused and finding the '■ stolen property in his possession. ' On being arrested the accused stated J he could not help himself, as he ( was a kleptomaniac. t Accused was then cautioned and '• again said it was kleptomania.
