FOOTBALL.

[Bt Damocles] To-morrow the first match of the season between the Greytown and Masterton Clubs will be played at Greytown. ■ The Bed Star first fifteen will play the remaining members of the Club on the Park Oval, the newlyformed Maori Club will hold their first practice at Te Ore Ore, and the Masterton second will meet on the Worksop Road ground.

Wellington will be well represented in the Wairarapa 011 Queen's Birthday, no less that soven teams having already arranged matches. Two Petone fifteens are to meet Masterton, two Athletic teams play |at Greytoivn, the Selwyns play at Featherston, the Orientals at Cai> I terton, and the Stars meet the local Orientals at Carterton.

The first team of Orientals played a team of all-comers on the Oval yesterday, and wore defeated. To have old players against thorn Is an excellent practice for the boys, and they learn a great many points of the game byboing beaten.

A general meeting of the Oriental Football Club was held in the Empire Hotel last evening, Mr Robert Jackson (captain) being in the chair, It was decided to hold a special general meeting in about a fortnight to make arrangements for a Social in aid of the Club. Challenges were received from tlio Stars and Orientals (both Wellington Clubs) for matches on Queen's Birthday, and it was decided to accept them.

The following team was chosen to represent the first Orientals against their namesakes at Wellington on Thursdayßacks Harland, R-. Jackson, A. Bennett, Fellingham, Richards and Webb; forwards—B, Bennett, Wellington, Doughty, E. Sayors, Sheppard, Cameron,"Marsh, Warner,and Walker; emergencies —Bagge, Henry, and Wickens.

The second fifteon, to play the Stars at Mastorton, will bo composed of the following:—Backs—Johnston, Corbett, Bagge, A, Welch, Wickens, King, Reynolds; forwards —B. Gardner (captain), J. Wickens, B. Pickering, Langton, Leach, Wise, Braggins, Finlayson; emergencies —lbbctson, O'Leary, Mason, Owon,
