Monthly Meeting- ■ . The regular monthly meeting of the Masterton Hospital Trustees was held yestei% afternoon. Present -Me.isrs J.O. Boddington (Chairman),E.Peist)G.S.W.Dal™ple 1 J.B,Keith,andW.H.Beetham, MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed," . TREASURER'S REVOIIT. The Treasurer reported a credit balance at date of £sl6s 3d j iustrument fund, £25015s 3d, THEUAXD. Geo. E, Grayjunr. wrote stating ho would have pleasure in placing; his Band at the Trustee's disposal to play in the Hospital grounds on any Sunday after June 6th, the collection to go to the Hospital fuuds. The Chairman moved and Mr Bcetham seconded that Mr Gray's offer be accepted with thanks, SUBSCUHTIOS. Mr J, lorns wrote enclosing 21s subscription and stating been unable to amounts in arrears. * *•!
Messrs'Hnndyside, Roberts & Co. wrote forwarding a cheque for £l4 12s 2d, being station hands'sub-' stription to the Hospital. 'MARY. The Hospital diary was read. ACCOUNTS. The Custodian's report showed that eight males and two femalra i wore admitted during the month, and six discharged. Patrick conway's case. The Chairman said while on tlio question of patients he would like to refer to the caso of the poormou, who died recently at tlio Universal Boarding House. Doubtless tlio other Trustees had heard remarks
made, and seen comment in the public press with regard to the man's non-admission to the Hospital. He fully expected to have seen the Castodinn subpoenaed, which courso would have been better. All who understood the matterivero perfectly satisfied, but the pu\lic perhaps were not, He felt quite sure that had the Custodian been aware that ■ the man was so ill ho would have admitted him. The rules stated that in cases of accident or emergency, persons could be admitted at discretion. Had tho Custodian been subpcenaed tho public would have been put right, He would move that tho Custodian be asked to give his version of the matter for next meeting of the Trust, Mr Beel-ham said it wak quite possible that the man might havo walked up to the hospital, and then it had not been appaient that he was atdeath's door. He would second tho resolution, ! , The Chairman said it would \be well for the publictounderstand iliafc their rules did provide for cases of emergency. Tho resolution wns then earned. The Chairman said there was a falling off of subscriptions. Last year there was a bequest, which was amity. Twelvemonths ago the assets were £l9B, and on March 31st this year £163. VISiTIXII MKMBEIi. Mr G. S, W. Dalrymple was appointed visiting member for the month, and the meeting went into Committee to consider patients' accounts. -
