MASTERTON HORTICULTURAL AND INDUSTRIAL SOCIETY.

Chrysanthemum Show.

The third annual Chrysanthemum Show of the above Society, is being held this afternoon at the Drill Hall, The show iB an excellent one as far as the quality of the exhibits is concerned, but the entries are not large. Some of the finest Mooms we bare ever oeen are beiog shown by Messrs T. Dixon and J. Stone, of Mastetlon, and Messrs C. J. Hill. J. J. Kerslake, 8.. W. Green and J. Earland, of Welington. Some fine and tastelully arranged bouquets are exhibited, principally by Mrs T, Hutchison, Mrs Arnott, Mrs M. Oaselberg and Miss M. Johnston. Mr J-, (J, Alpass is showing a few speoimens of new varieties ot Japanese plums and also a Japanese persimmon, the first grown in Masterton, This evening a Promenade Concert in which the following ladies and gentlemen have kindly offered to assist will take place:—Mr P. Q. Moore, Mr Simms, Mr Mall, Mrs Arnot, Mies Itookelland Mrs C. Auketell, and at nine o'clock dancing will commenoeWitli these additional attractions there should be a good attendance to encourage the Secretary, Mr J. C; Alpass, and the Committee of the Society in their efforts to promote and improve horticulture in this district,
