Annual Meeting,

The annual meeting of tbe Wellington Acclimatisation Society was neld last night in the Museum, MajorGeneral Sohaw (vice-ohaitman) presiding.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted without comment. His Exceljency the Governor was reelected president, and Sir J, Hector, E.C.M.G., and Mejor-Geueral Schaw, 0.8., vice-presidents. The following council was elected by ballot;—Wairarapa—Messrs W. H. Beetham, A. D. Whatman, and J Bidwill; Wellington-Messrs 0. H. Izard, T. £, Donnio, E. t. Hawk, F, N. Hawkinß, G. B. Morison, W. R. Morris, J.H- Btringerf L. G. ReidanflA, J, Rutherford- /' Mr 0, H. Ijfard thougbi.that the Sooiety's'meetings would be more largely attended if holders pf two £1 licenses were entitled to membership without the payment of-an extra jjs as provided for now. Mr L, 0. Reid (treasurer) explained that only three persons had paid the extra 5s entitling them to membership. He regretted that sportsmen tooksuoh little interest in theSoaiety's operations. There seimed to he a want of real sportsmanlike feeling in the community. On tbe motion of Mr W, H, s<£tham,seconded by MrF.
