Weekly Meeting,
The Masterton Mutual Improvement Soolety bad an. interesting debale at their uaual weekly meeting, held in the Wesleyan Schoolroom last evening, the Rev. J, Dukes (ireaiding, The subject being " Which has contributed the most to crime, Wealth, Ignoranco, or Poverty?" Mr Rive leading off for Wealth, Mr J.Johnston ior Ignorance, and—in the abseuce of Mr T, Gillespie—Mr 0, Pragnell defending Poverty. Rev. Dukes, Mibb Dukes and Mr Easthope were the other speakers.
Tlie leaders hoving replied the Chairman summed up, and a vote was taken with tbe result that " Wealth " gained the victory by a substantial majority. Mr P. A, Rive was elected to membership. The" Journal" will be read at next Friday's meeting of the Society.
