ST.MATTHEW'S BOYS' CLUB.
Presentation to Reu. I/I/. E. Paige.
Yesterday evening at the St. Matthew's Hoys' Club, n number of the members assembled to present] their President, the Itev. W. E.| Paige, in view of his approaching departure, with an address and a handsome present in recognition of ilia efforts on behalf of'the Club, Mr Paige addressed a few words; to the lads, congratulating tbem on tbeir manly spirit and good conduct. The club had been admirably conducted, there had been no cause for complaint, and he only hoped that it would continue to be jvell conducted. A well equipped gymnasium would be of great assistance to them, and he'hoped in the future that they would he abljj to afford it. However, it. was far better to go on slowly and ht u adily and not run into debt, The reverend gentleman strongly advocated drill for boys and young men, and added that though volunieering might- bo laughed at now, a time might come when some of his hearts might have to shoulder the rifle in earnest. All manly games and exercists were good, and lie was a great believer in boxing, which taught a boy many a useful lesson. Dr. Butement had kindly promised to give a few leotuies on "i'irst Aid to the Wounded " during the coming winter, and doubtless the; would be well attended,
It. Owen then read the following address and presented the reverend gentleman with a pipe:
