DFATH OF ARCHDEACON MAUNSELL.

Auckland, April 19, Arcbdeaoon Maunsell died to day, aged 8i jenra. He arrivtd in tbo Bay of Islands in the Active 1884 as a representative of the Church Missionary Society. In 1835 he vißited the Upper Thames, ahd in 188G the Isthmus of Auckland, and established mission stations at Maraetai. In 1858 ho established a mission station at Kobauga on the Waikato River, but it was abandoned tluoiigh tbo war, He beoaroe chaplain to the troops in the Waikatocampaign, burying the dead at tbo engagement of Eungiriri, He was then appointrd incumbent o[ St, Mary's, Paruell.and held that position for 15 years. He latterly lived in retirement, Archdeacon Maunsell took a large pari in the transition and revision of the Maori Biblp. He lenvea five sons (ono of them being Mr ft 8. Maunsell, of Waihakejfo) find four daughters,
