A Scheme of Self-Help.
The Minister of Lands is engaged in developing the details of a scheme for helping the deserving unemployed .to carvo out homes for themselves aud to become their own masters. Tbis sobeme proposos that contracts for bush fulling shall be let and that the men shall have the option of taking upseotions of the land upon which they are employed to fell the timber, the price of the falling being added to the valuo of the land, The men will thus be enabled to hew out soalions for themselves and to pay for them on every easy terms. Tlie NZ. 'J'iim understands that the Government have mnde arrangements to afford work to the most necessitous of the unemployed in Auckland, Wellington, Ohristchuroh and Dunedin.
