CARTERTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Friday. The first meeting of the season in this district was held at the Taratahi yesterday. About in huntsmen took part, Huntsman Roako having IG cou lie of hounds, The jumping was goo 1 all round, only three spills.none of tiem,serious, occurring, At the Con trnittee meeting held afterwards, Mr O, B, Pharazyn was elected Trei surer, Mr B, Dawson's name was added to tho Carterton Committee, Mr 1. McPhee's to that of Gladstone! and Mr 0. Morrison's to that of Gre 'town, The ladies of Carterton gave a dance at tne Assembly Rooms last night, at which a number of those gentlemen who took part in tho Hunt wore present, Dancing was kept up with spijit till one o'clock,
