FEATHERSTON NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Yesterday was one of the .most wintry days we have experienced bore for a long time. It wua bitterly cold all day with occasionally Leave rain and hail showers, The members of the Licensing Committee have been visiting the local hotels. On Sunday Meßsrs Grace and Stevens visited the Tauherenikau Hotel and the Featherston ones as well, and yesterday Messrs Prootor and Millar visited the hotels here in company with Constable Smith. The first consignment of timber for our new Town Hall came to hand yesterday, and I hope that I may soon be able to inform you of the erection of the frame work.
A. young man working at Dowman's flax mill, lost one of his fingers in the Btnppßr yeaierday afternoon. I shall let you have further particulars for next issue.
Heavy peals of thunder accompanied by vivid lightning broke over Fea therston about nine o'clock last evening; it was exceptionally cold and raining at the time.
A special sheep train of seventeen trucks left here this morning,
