Three Men Drowned.
I/I/ashed Ouerboaid at Sea. (By Telegraph -Press Association). BIUPP, Saturday. The ketoh Gratitude has arrived from Macquane Inlands, During the voyage on the 26th instant, a sen of exceptional siza struck the vessel, which is a well known trader to the Islands, washing overboard the cook, R. W. Green, 32, a native of London, married; D. Henderson, 28, A 8,, native of Scotland, and John Fortniok, a half-caste Maori employed on the Island. Nothing whatever was seen of the men after they were washed overboard, Drowned in l/lellinpn Harbour. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) Wellington, Monday. In the gale last 'night the lighter Speo owned by Mr Downed, moored in the harbour sank. Bbe was loaded with stones, and the man in charge of here, Robert Young, was advised to leave as it was dangerous, but he refused, this morning bis body was found on shore. He had a lifebelt on and his watch was carefully wrapped up in leather and was still going. The poor fellow had evidently tried hard tu eave himself. He. was unmarried. It is said that lights were observed on board, as thought trying to signal, but this is not confirmed.
