SECOND EDITION
The other day Inspector Harvey ordered.two beasts to be destroyed which were suffering-from a disease known aa lumjiy .This affection is of a cancerous, nature, and there can be no doubt that there! would'be grave peril to persona who might :eat the t meat of Bnimalswbioh were subject to the complaint. The public, no doubt, have confidence in tbe Mastertoh butchers, and believe that unwholesome meat is not : vendedbut the question arises whether; in the pre sent instance, the animals would have found tlieir way to a slaughterhouse, had the Inspector failed to condemn theia and their peculiar condition had been overlooked or disregarded, Possibly there is no cause for alarm, but' it would be a satisfaction to householders if some investigation were made into the Condition of the"animals killed at the various slaughterhouses, if only to reassure people (hat they are not liable to purchase unwholesome meat.
