IheChampion Fours- : The finest raee seen in the Colony, i (By Telegraph—Press Association,) Picton, Tuesday. The race for the champion fours of New Zealand was got off this morn' ing at seven o'clock. The water was in fair oondition but the heavy rain falling, made it uncomfortable for the competitors. Lyttelton won after a | great race by two lengths from Auckland, whobeattho Union (Wangauui) by a few feet for third place. The Unions (Chris'tohurcb) the Canterbury, the Stars (Wellington), and Nelson also started. For the half distance the pace was terrific, Canterbury and Lyttelton leading the field with a very fast stroke, but the latter were able to last at the pace, Canterbury, who were favorites, oraoking iip three-quarters of a mile from home. There was a big struggle for second and third plsoes, four boats being in line nearly the whole way. The general opinion was that the race was the finest ever seen in the colony. Ths Champion Double.
