THE SOUTHERN SHEARERS' STRIKE.
(By Telegraph.— Press Association), Oamaru, Tuesday. A case of importance was decided by the Stipendiary Magistrate today. Some lime ago 28 shearers at Benmora struck work on the ground that the sheep were wet, and left the station after demanding their money. This was Mused, and the men brought a test case into Court, pleading that a clause m the agreement i signed by them appointing the manager sole judge as to thecondition of the sheep was arbitrary, the sheep were wet, and that they had been discharged, The evidenco for the defence was that the sheep were dry, that the clause appointing the manager as judge was pointed out to the men before they signed tbo agreement, and that the men were not discharged. The Magistrate decided against the plaintifl, and allowed costs of £6 14s lOd,
The men had shorn 8000 Bheep, and £228 in wages was involved.
