ThegWhito Hart Hotel, Carterton, is at length getting a much needed renovation, but for some mysterious reason or other, the owner—instead of giving 'the work to tho local men—has sent tradesmen np from Wellington, to do it. Of course n little thing like this tends to make the house popular among the membots of the building fraternity, and when any of them have a spare " Colonial Robert" tliey will make s point of taking it to tho White Hart Hotel to spend. Thetois some talk of organising an Amateur Drnmatio Olub for tha winter, and as there are soveral residents here who aro by no means now to the business, it ought to be a success,
