Eifle Association was opened at Hillsborough this afternoon, There was a fresh N.E. wind blowing with a bright sun. Miss Gapes, in the absence of Mrs Gapes, tlio Mayoress, who was indisposed, fired the firsi shot, registering a bull's eyo, The first event was the Nelson Match, only the short range of which was completed, the following being the prinoipal scores Nelson Match, 200 yds, 500 yds, and 600 yds, seven shots at each range, not counting for Belt. Private Aitcheson, Kaitnugata... 34 Private Scott, Christchurch ... 84 Gun'r Greenshields, Auckland 38 Mr Wogatafi', Lyttelton B.C. ... 33 Mr Chapman, Wairoa E.G. ... 33 Capt Ballinger, Petoneß.O, 83 Sergt Anderson, Wanganui ... 38 MrGrace, Petone R,C, ... 8? P.O. Williams, Wellington ... 83 i Corporal King, Oamaru ... 88 Gunner Dobbs, Auckland ... 38 Private Kobilliard, Kaiapoi ... 38 Privategtentard, Kumara ... 88 Mr Eeid, Queenstown ... 83 ( Tho present champion, A. Ballinger, scored 81. Anew system of marking was adopted at this meeting, being a modification of that in use at Bisley. The total number of entries is 210.
