The Government and King Tawhaio. ■ '< (By Telegraph. - Press Association,) Auckland, Tuesday, j ATuakau telegram says that the i Government has accepted Kereti Katbau's challenge to meet him and bis followers on the banks of i the Opuatia river, to decide a 9 to i whether King Tawhaio ia to have supremaoy over the' native lands of Opuatia or not. Inspector Hiokson , and nine armed constables, with as many supernumeraries, are to meet hiin there at daylight to-day | Mr Wright, the Government Road : Engineer of the Auckland Land District; ; Mr Johnsion, Native Interpreter ; and Mr Whiteside, Government Surveyor, are also to be on the scene. Kereti Kaihau is expected to have about 40 followers, and is to begin pulling up the survey pegs near { t he Opuatia river.
