MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD.

Meeting. The ordinary meeting of the Maariceville Road Board was held on Saturday the 27ih inst. Present— Messrs 0. Forabprg (ohoirraan), 0, Tait, and J. P. Heckler. Correspondence was read from Pay-mas;er-General,notifyiogthe payment of the extra 10 per cent on the loanfor Dorßet'B bridge.- From theCouoty Clerk stating thattho delay in effecting the alterations in the boundary line of tho district is caused by the action of the Assistant SurveyorGeneral, who has suggested certaio amendments in theproposed boundaiy between the Alfrcdton, Castlepoint, and Akitio Districts. A letter was received, signed by Mr W, Qordon-Gummirig and Mossrs Welch and Day, requesting the Board to widen a bridge on the Central Mangamaboo Road.—lt was considered advisable to leave this bridge as it is at present, until the loan is raised.

In reply to a communication addressed to the Minister of Lands, a memorandum was received from him stating that enquiry had been made at the Land Office with reference to the delay in verifying the alterations in the boundary lino of the Distriot. Mr Sinolair, the Government Inspector wrote informing tuo Board that the slips on tbo Central Mangamahoe Road bad been cleared away so that the metalling could now he pro ceeded with. With reforenco to a petition from settlers on Valley Road, requesting that immediate steps be taken -to raise a loan to form this road, it was decided to inform the petitioners that proceeding would be commenced whenever the alterations in the boundary are affected. It was resolved that legal proceedings be taken against all defaulting ratepayers whoso raics are not paid by the 20th of February. It was dcoided not to open the tenders for mainteunnce-but to amend the specifications and invite fresh tenders. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Commissioner of Crown Lands requesting him to set apart four or five aores at the junction of Dreyer'a Rook nnd Wangaehu Roads as a reserve for road purposes. The Engineer reported that Messrs Sowry Bros, had mads good progress with their formation contract on Mt, Bruce Road. Accou'th passed for payment amountejß £1512s lid.
