s J . Finance Committee. , The Finance Committee of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society met in the Club Hotel, on Saturday last, at 8 p.m., Mr A. Walker (President) in the chair. The Secretary sub--3 milled a statement of receipts and > expenditures of the Society to date, i whioh showed a very satisfactory 8 result considering the wet weather ■* experienced on Ist J inuary, Several accounts were passed for payment, The Directors met at i p.m., Mr A. Walker teiug in the ohair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confjimed,and the Secretary read the Finance Committees re- .. port, e Mr Osborne proposed, Mr Alex. e McLeod seconded that the report o! a the Finance Committee be adopted.— ] Carried. y Mr El kins proposed Mr Alex. ,[ MoLeod seconded that the report of B the Finance Committee be adopted.— . Oaried. „ Mr Elkins proposed Mr Alex j McLeod seconded that as the Bank r overdraft is now paid, the thanks of \ the Directors be conveyed to the a members who had become guarantors , for the amount.— Oarripd. . Mr Osborne proposed and Mr 0, „ Guild seconded that a vote of thanks e be accorded to Mr Alex MoLeod for „ his kindness in providing and delivering logs ior the sa _: "? and hewt ing competition. , Mr Guild proposed and Mr R. I MoEay seconded that the financial 3 year close on the 80th January, and B the annual meeting be held in the B first week in July, thus giving more time to make arrangements lor the I annual gathering. j The resolution was dtacoßfled freely, e and the general opinion that more B time was required than under the old B arrangement of having the annual . meeting in October. The resolution f, waß carried, D . TheDiruotors unanimously direoted t that a letter of condolence be forD warded to the relatives of the lata Mr B Farquhir Gray, the preparation of tbe ] letter be left in the hands of tbe 0 President and Secretary, Universal t, regret was expressed by the meeting Bt the loss the Society has sustained , by the death of Mr Gray, who, during 1 the number of years he was conneoted . with the Society, always took an { active share of the work, aod was „ most energetio in helping to promote ) its success, The meeting then closed with a , vote of thanks to the chair.
