FIRE AT WANGANUI.

Wanqanui, Saturday. A fire in Viotoria Avenue this morning wrecked five shops, Messrs Fenton(hatter), Hannah (bootmaker), Gatenby (chemißt),> Tusfcin (painter), and Anderson (furniture warehouse) all Buffering, The fire broke out m Fenton'B shop and spread with marvellous rapidity to the adjoining buildings. The brigade worked well and danger was soon averted. Fortunately there was no wind or the whole block must hare gone, Fenton's j premises were gutted, other damage being, mostly oaußed through the charring of the upstairs portion and the deluge of water poured on.
