Timu) leave Wellington this afternoon to ride through to Masterton, returning on Monday, Yesterday afternoon the Wellington R.M, had before hira a German named Frederick Von Bohoenberg, who had been arrested on a warrant ohargirg hira with having used threatening language to Mr E. G. Jellicoe, solicitor.Mr Jellicoe, in giving his evidence,'stated that some time ago the man was arrested for assaulting Inspector tender, and he (Mriollicoe) waß instructed by the man's wife to see what he could do in his defence. Defendant had supesnaed Sir Robort Stout as a witness, but he (Mr Jellicoe) refused to call him, being satisfied that he could threw no light on the matter, From that time defendant had been continually going to his office and annoying him. On Thursday afternoon ho oame in, and at witness' request went away again, but shortly afterwards returned, Keeping one hand ill hid pocket as if holding something he advanced in rather a threatening manner, and said : "Do you intend to take up my oatie, or do you not ? Do you intend to examine Sir Robert Stout, or do ycu not 1 If you don't, I'll Bwing for it." Witness quietened the man, and was hiving a telephone mojsage sent to the police when he left the premises. He had, said Mr Jellicoe, something in his hand whioh looked like a revolver. Cumtable Hutton, who arrested defendant at his home, said he remarked, "I have a good mind to take a chisel and stab myself to the heart." fie also said he had a right to have shot Mr Pender, Defendant said he did not have a revolver in his hand, but merely a hammer and a saw. Inspector Pender Baid this was the fourth time defendant had been up on a similar oharge, and he was now under recognisances to keep the peace, Defendant: "It shall alt come up to'the House of Parliament next session," His Worship, remarking that defendant's recognisances would bo entreated, beund him over in £75 and two sureties of £6O each, to keep the_ peace towards all Her Majesty's subjects for twolvo months.— N.Z.
