Quite a commotion was caused in Main street yesterday mormup, when a horse bolonging to Mr M. Maxton, which was apparently being broken in to harness, jibbed. After abo'it a quarter of an hour's gMlt persuasion the animal kicked, and ran forward into a buggy drivon by a young Maori named Ropiha. The unruly animal evidently wanted to test the strength of the busgy, for it reared twice, putting its front feet on the back seat of the vehicle. Another buggy was in front occupied by an aboriginal lady, and the whole three became one entangled ram, Ropiha never lost his head, but sat still, caught the trespasser by the head, and threw him off tlio buggy, Had anyone lioeu in the back seat, he weiild almost certainly havo been killed, Strange to say the only damage sustained was the breaking of the seat, The howls of a large number of Maori women throughout was deafening, for all thought as did the European spectators, that someone would be i seriously hurt. Hid younger was promptly takeo out of the trap, but not befoio its log 3 bud been very much knocked about.

The house commence! by the now noted contractor ,( Jo><" Barnard, for Mrs 8, M, Maxton, on the site of tho old shop and residence has been eomI'leted, mid is now occupied by the owner.
