AUpeman Hunted, Ago ft salosman ap> peared in Ohriatchurcli, and the people found that the goods they pur chosed of him were such rubbish that they hunted bim out of the hall Where he was holding the sale, to his liotel, and it was by a narrow escape that he did not fall into the violent hands of tho mob, On Satuiday night a salesman and his party appeared at Danevirkr, whoso conduct resulted in a similar orgie. We do not know whether it wan tho same man that appeared at Christehurcli, but a crowd gathered toseo the at< tractions of the salesman who held forth at Dunevirke on Saturday, We understand that ho had taken the town hall, and had a display of goods on the platform. From tho stage a board was run along the forms on either side and along these boards two girls in "tights," forming a disgusting exhibition, ran to and fro receiving tho money from the bystanders and taking them tho goods. Tho people were duped into purchases at first by the salesman returning tho money and a quantity of goods along with it, mostly of a fancy character, Then the fun began. At length the people began to feel they were boing swindled, receiving rubbish for their money, Complaints were made, than a howl set up and the mob rushed the platform, but the salesman and his assistance were off by a back-door. At length ono was spotted carrying a • 'pQrti)jn".t< ul A crowd rushed after hinftatwh® flkpped the portmanteau, and maflsJffisejfscarce. Tho portmanteau was quickly seized us it was expected its contents would be some satisfaction, When opened, however, it was found to contain-nothing I Tho chase got so hot that one of the party went to tho police station and sought protection from the crowd, He bad to be locked up in the cells till 4 a.m. on Sunday, and then he got out of the town by a back way. Gn Sunday it was discovered that some of the party were in one of the hotels, and tbe row was renowed, the mob threatening to lay siege lo tho hotel, The offenders got out by a back way and ran along the railway lino to Woodyillo,—Woodville Examiner,
