At a meeting of the local branch of Eailway Servants Society on Saturday, attended by 160 numbers, mostly from the hillside workshops the following resolutions wero earrisd! " This meeting strongly oppoßcs any special insuranco scheme for the railway service, and is of opinion, that the desire of the Commissioners to see their employes insured can be more satisfactorily met by passing an Aob regulating that every Railway employ! shall within six mouths after entry on the books of tho service as a permanent employe, insure in some one of the Insuranco offices doing business in tbo colony, leaving it with a employe* to choose (he office in which he will w. A second resolution, slron^frcondemning the action of tho railway man, who took part in the Wellington Conference, was put and declared carried by the Chairman, but many of those present assort thot the voices of the dissentients, who were in a majority, were not tfken.
