ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.

Ordinary Meeting.

The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held 0,1 2nd September. Present-Messrs H. Dunn (Chairman), J. Jjoustead, J. H. Groves, F. P, Nelson, S, M. George, H, Warren, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. - P. Kennedy waited on the Board on behalf of Kennedy and MoGinlay, requesting tho Board to give thorn, the original price for their No. 1 contract on Mount Baker Road, Ho explained that in sending in their second tender that tlioy had omitted to charge for bushfalling on the last 42 chains of road.

It was decided that the Board grant Kennedy and MoGinlay the sum of £2O on the first contract (160 chains formation) on Mount Baiter Road, as tho Board are of the opinion that the contractors made a mistake in their tender, in omitting to charge the price of clearing tho bush on the last 42 chains, ' CORRESPONDENCE,

The Bank of New Zealand wrote acknowledging cheques £9 5s 10d, and balance of subsidy and £BO, pn'rt of Mangaone bridge grant. From C. K. Brenmubl demanding tho payment of balance due to him on ihe Pah Creek bridge contract. It was wived that Mr Brenmubl bo refunded his deposit of £slss, and that £3 be held in band until ho complied with the Engineer's instructions re items necessary to complate the. bridge in accordance wiih tho speoificatiens. From Bank of N.Z. acknowledging F.D.R and interest £1162 10s for for credit to loans account, and enclosing new F.D.E. £62 12s 3d, also acknowledging cheque for £l4B lis 8d for credit of pablio account, and P.D.R. and interest £7O 7a 7d. from Commission- r of Lauds, statin" that Lot 7, Block XII, was forfeited.

From Piatt and Abbott, applying for 17s Gd for clearing scrub,—lt was resolved that tbe amouut be paid out ofthirJs,

From Commissioner of Lands, requesting copy of minutes of Board agreeing to the road through seotion 8, Block VI fl., Mangaone, being closed. The Clerk stated that he had supplied the request. .. . From County Clerk, enolosing tracing of a piece of Crown Lands and stating that the whole could not go to the Alfredton Biding, and showing what would bo a fair division.- It was resolved that the division he accepted, It was resolved that the Clerk write 1 to the County Council, asking them to call tenders for the formation of I Nos. 8 and 4, Pori road contracts.
